The journey to consciousness was, as always, a horrible one. So was listening to the Head Doctor's lunatic ravings, but by now Kadaj had at least learned to tune out the irrelevant nonsense. There seemed to be more of it than usual this morning, but then there were also some more important parts too. New patients, visitors later in the day, and... a surprise? In a chapel, too, as if the Head Doctor's sense of humor wasn't twisted enough already.
At some point during these musings, he became aware of the fact that his once blissfully private room now had certain... additions. Namely, a whole new set of furniture, complete with a bed that had a lump of bedding on it that honestly made it rather difficult to tell if there was anyone occupying it or not. Kadaj quickly made sure his equipment was safely stashed away before wandering over to examine it, tilting his head curiously at the bundle. What--?
Of course, his nurse chose that exact moment to come in, giving him a bright, cheery smile that could have only be achieved through either countless rehearsals or, failing that, plastic surgery. "Good morning, Kaden!" she said quietly, not wanting to wake his new... roommate, he supposed. What a disgusting idea. "Did you hear the announcement? Which will it be: the chapel or the sun room?"
That was an easy choice, surprise or not. "Sun room," he answered succinctly, and allowed himself to be led off.
There were surprisingly few people there when he arrived, and he had to smirk when he recognized one of the traitor's friends among them. If only they were on the second floor, he could find some way to push Barret down the stairs in that wheelchair... that sounded like fun. Elena's idiot boyfriend was there too, but Kadaj wasn't all that interested in tormenting him right now. It was more fun seeing if he could push her into having a breakdown than bother with him, at least from what he'd seen so far. As for the rest of the people in the room... he just didn't care.
Oh well. Locating a couch of his own couch, he made himself comfortable on it and closed his eyes. Maybe he'd spend this entire shift replaying that conversation with the president in his mind-- "You win, Kadaj." Frankly, with the exception killing everyone here and finding Mother, he couldn't think of a better way of spending his time than doing just that.
