Cross decided not to mention where he'd thought they'd been, especially if they were no longer there. If this man was an employee (or former employee) of either Stea or Zenom, them saying he'd been at the South Pole would probably throw up a red flag, given what else was located there. (Not that it was his fault for being there, really, but that was besides the point.)
He squinted through the fog, but still couldn't make out any solid shapes so he shook his head. "Not really. Clearly there's more than one person out here besides us, but I can't see enough to know what's going on." This wasn't the spirit energy of some powerful O.P.T., either. It was just heavy fog. Where could they possibly be?
Turning back to B, he gave the young man a weak smile. "I'd ask you if anything looked familiar, but given the circumstances..."
