Unlike the rest of his team, Sai hadn't known Kakashi all that long. He took the news as he would that of any ninja acquaintance dying, as he'd seen it happen many times in the past. He simply nodded once, showing no signs of grief or frustration.
Naruto was a very emotional person though, and he knew that hearing this news so soon after hearing about the death of his mentor would come as a shock. It was no wonder he'd thrown such a fit in the greenhouse. If the boy tried to stop these events from happening, however, would it really be for the best? What if his meddling changed things for the worse?
Could they afford to think of those things now? He wasn't sure. Sai wasn't the sort of person who could easily foresee how others would react to things.
"It's understandable that Naruto's upset," he said calmly, but could think of nothing to add for the moment.
