Picking on the injured wasn’t something that interested the vampire. In fact, Aidou loathed the idea. If he was going to be taking what blood he needed through physical force and not through more genteel means, he’d be more willing to deal with someone at peak physical condition than a person who was already weakened. Only vultures did that.
Aidou stepped a little ways into the hallway, soundless, at home in the pitch black where the flashlight beam didn’t touch him. His eyes were drawn to the boy’s cast. Broken, probably. Even for a child, a broken bone wasn’t usually enough to put them out of commission, but was that all? He couldn’t touch someone who was too badly injured if he could help it, it just wasn’t… right. His calculating side didn’t have anything to do with morals, and he knew he only had a few seconds to decide if he should make a move on the male, before the others in the main hall shifted their attention, before the boy moved too far and left them exposed, before someone came out of a cell at the wrong time…
