"Don't do that," Schuldig said abruptly, forcing his eyes open again and shaking off the memories that, after all, weren't his in the first place. "I don't need any more pretty promises that won't be kept. I'm sure you would if you could, but we both know it's never going to happen so there's no point in saying it at all." He leaned back slightly, closing his eyes again - this time not to savor anything at all, but to keep from having to see the inevitable hurt expression on Artemis' face. "Besides, it's not like I live the sort of life where I could have anything like that."
