He didn't mean to be patronizing, it was simply safer for someone who didn't have much knowledge of the situation yet to stay out of it. He himself probably wouldn't be going much of anywhere tonight, since Lelouch was handicapped at the moment, but he didn't mind putting either of them in harm's way anyway. They didn't deserve to be kept safe. But a random civilian shouldn't have to be in danger, especially if he wasn't prepared to deal with whatever was out there.
