Busy laughing at Brook, Mele almost missed the bulletin board as she was lead somewhere else. She only got a passing glance and at the time hadn't actually registered what it was, but now she at least knew it was there.
Mele tuned out the nurse's chattering as usual, but the word 'roommate' jumped out at her in particular.
"Roommate?" Mele interrupted. "As in, sharing a room?"
"That's what I said, dear," the nurse continued placidly. She went on, but Mele stopped paying attention (again), thoughts whirling. Roommate. Mele rubbed her forehead. From what seemed to be mealtime, to some sort of music room, and now to a room with a roommate. Mr. Grumpy from mealtime had said this was a hospital, but what kind of hospital was this supposed to be? Ki aside, Mele wasn't hurt, as far as she could see.
She'd been here a couple of hours now. Time to stop dawdling around like some sleepwalker and actually acquire some real intel.
The nurse opened the door for her, which Mele resented, but the nurse only sauntered off back down the corrider as if Mele's glare had had no effect. Mele wished she hadn't been so cooperative. She hadn't thought the nurse would have any useful info, always chattering on as she did. The chatter reminded her of Bae, and she rarely ever really paid any attention to Bae.
She stepped into the room, and flopped onto the unoccupied bed. "You must be the roommate," she said to the girl across from her. The girl was eating, and Mele looked at the other plate of food on the dresser with distaste. She hadn't eaten at the other mealtime with Mr. Grumpy, and hunger was making itself known now. But she hadn't eaten in years, so this would be interesting, to say the least. She pulled the plate closer. "What is this stuff?"
