There were options for foods that weren't entirely pork, and even foods without pork, for the soldiers at home. Hamburgers, french fries, even simple rice with eggs. But there was pork available, and it was proper to prefer that. Pork could even be added to a hamburger easily enough, or made into a hot dog...

There was just no pork at all in a turkey. No pork in the side dishes, either, not even as a garnish. Taking out the chocolate he had wrapped earlier to put it to the side of his plate, so it would have more time away from his body heat and not melt, the Commander started in on his strange meal.

His efforts today hadn't been a complete success, but he was acting outside of his original design. Even one person agreeing to meet with them was a partial success, and there was still his roommate to consider. True, his roommate seemed to be dedicated to the History Club, but he hadn't had the option of Porky's leadership before.
