The boy might be quick and skilled, but he was still outnumbered, hemmed in by larger and stronger orderlies who seemed to be materializing on every side. They might not have been prepared immediately for such an outcome, but there were still provisions for situations when they arose.

Though the nurse gave a quiet yelp as she found the needle abruptly knocked from her hands, one of said orderlies stepped in to make a grab at Chris' foot immediately after. His strike to the other orderly's face forced the man to draw back with a grunt of pain, but another one of his burly companions appeared to grab at Chris' arm.

And at the same time others were reaching for him, summoned to subdue the fight as quickly as possible, at this point aiming to overwhelm the boy with sheer force and hold him still so that he could be safely sedated. The second nurse, who had drawn back from the scuffle, now stepped forward with her needle at ready, just waiting for the first opportunity to use it.
