Ophelia simply smiled back at the man. What was it with the people of this institute all thinking that they were so clever? No one would have dared to demean her back in the organization, and yet here it seemed as though every other person she came across thought themselves somehow above her. At first it had been annoying, but not is was just becoming amusing.

"And I suppose you have a better idea about how to pass the time until the night comes, hmm?" she asked sweetly. "Play the silly human games they want us to play? Sit here and stare at the wall? Even if it's just finding ways to cause paper cuts, it's a far more pleasurable endeavour than anything else I see happening in this room."

She experimented with her grip on the card, holding it with her index finger on one corner so that she might get more spin out of her throws. Sure enough, with another flick of her wrist, the card went flying more smoothly than it had before, this time hitting the back of someone's chair. "So what if there isn't a useful purpose? That's what games are for, aren't they? To bring pleasure to those who play them," she explained, lowering her eyelids a bit and chuckling softly as she threw another card out in a random direction.
