Maybe it was because yoma were the stuff of dreams and stories where Kio came from. Maybe it was because Kio could not understand violence and fighting. Maybe for a whole slew of different reasons, not matter how much Allen tried to explain, Kio would not understand why a child was made to fight.
"It's okay then, Allen-kun." Kio smiled at him and listened, only to find out food was a favourite thing. He grinned a goofy grin, almost bouncing in his seat with excitement. "I'm a good cook back home. I cook for Sou-chan sometimes and he likes it. We even have a beer now and again." Kio thought about it for a minute, then added, "We could go raid the kitchens one night and I'd cook for you. We can have a lot of fun."
It was Kio's attempt at cheering people up. He got them to talk and most ended up bonding immediately. Sou-chan had been different, sure, but Kio had been warned about that from the very beginning. He'd still stubbornly plowed on, because it made him feel good. Because he hated seeing Soubi close up like that and hide it all inside.
"I cook mostly Japanese food, so if you're never tried it, now's a good a time as any!" It was, in a way. Stuck in this prison, where he could scream until he had no lungs left about how he wasn't Akatsuki Shinro, Kio had to make the best of it. He'd find a way out, somehow. "Do you drink alcohol?" That would also make for great times, especially if he could rope others into it.
