He'd seen the notes on the bulletin, and coupled with what Artemis said this Renji guy seemed like a real take-a-bullet hero type. Badou had never met someone like that. Well, not really anyway. It must suck to be in Artemis' shoes.

Honestly, what surprised him more was Artemis staying. He hadn't really come off heartless, just...more like the type to do the smart thing in any given situation. And Badou could say from personal experience that sticking around to fight when you were a scrawny fourteen year old was never, ever, even remotely clever.
