Kurogane didn't care for the pieces of wood being kicked. Really, he should have been better with making sure he didn't hurt anyone on accident with them even in a bad mood, but what was done was done. He let the crutches hit back against his own foot before stepping on them to keep them still.
He nearly thought to say something, but then the woman in white bustled back, naturally with those sweet thing he hated, and told him to both "eat up" and "play nice". Right. He set a glare at the syrup covered bread things. "Oy," he called suddenly, not looking up but clearly addressing the other at the table, "for the other night..." he started, then paused, trying to think. The shinobi had never been good when it came to thanking others. It was like admitting to not being good enough, or not being where he should have been. Besides that, it reminded Kurogane of the exact reason why he ended up seeing the magician nearly every night. That bothered him.
"Thanks for getting him out of there," he finally settled on, then took up the fork and started poking as the soggy toast.
