Brainiac 5 blinked and arched an eyebrow. "No, not really. After all, I am a Coluan, and a Brainiac. Living up to preconceived notions about my intellectual level is automatic." Of course, he could hardly blame Xelloss for not being familiar with Coluans or the Brainiac line, he was, by all appearances, in the 20th century after all, so neither term should have been familiar to the man.
"Actually, I am Brainiac 5 as I am the fifth of the Brainiac line. The first Brainiac was my ancestor, the forth my mother." And the less said about either of those topics, the better. He had no desire to dredge up ancient and sensitive history with someone he'd just met.
Instead Brainiac 5 listened carefully to Xelloss's explanation about this place. He had been correct in assuming it was a mental institute then (and privately believed that Elle definitely belonged here), but he wasn't sure what to make of the comment on the nights in this place. He nodded slowly, taking his time to eat some more of his cereal - which thankfully seemed much healthier than what Xelloss had to eat, loaded as it was with unnecessary sugars and fats - before responding.
"As I said, I awoke in this place last night, but I have yet to encounter anything I would class as 'terrible'. Yes, there was that strange man, Eddie I believe, who did attack us, but as my companion seemed intent on recklessly attacking anything that moved under some delusional belief that it would try and kill her, I can hardly fault him for that. Otherwise I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary other than the fact that I'm in a completely different body and time period." He tilted his head, a questioning look in place.
"Do you know anything about the technology that was used to alter me to human form?"
