Kaiji's roommate must have loved him: like an honorable and dutiful rooster, he always without fail responded to the morning arriving. If the sound of the Head Doctor's voice blaring over the intercom wasn't enough to wake someone up, surely the reflexive nearby crowing of 'Fuck you!' in response to it was.

Actually, Kaiji was in one of his better moods so far today. He wasn't about to go waltzing up to anyone and spouting pleasantries by any means but he was reasonably calm and unshaken, especially when food was placed before him. He had basically been plucked from the streets, after all, and was easily impressed in this manner. It was actually the source of some frustration for him that cycled through his head almost constantly: he wasn't supposed to like anything about this place or have any doubts about leaving. Really, though, would things be much better on the outside?

As he was seeking out a place to settle, Kaiji spotted what he thought was a familiar nose. It had to be that guy from last night. Really, how many people could possibly exist who have noses that look that way? "So much for that, huh?" he said as he haphazardly set his completely mundane breakfast on the table. Whatever 'that' was, he didn't seem to be all that disappointed about it going wrong. "There was no way it was going to work anyway."

With his relative apathy regarding whatever had happened last night, Kaiji was comparatively enthusiastic about his food. Well, he seemed to be at least somewhat pleased with it as he sat and started impatiently sawing apart his syrup-drizzled French Toast.
