Valyn, on the other hand, was feeling particularly well rested. Most likely because he had fallen asleep not long after the night had fallen. He hadn't meant to, of course, but the nights and days took their toll. And no one had woken him up, so he assumed nothing monumental had happened.

When breakfast came, he took his morning meal and spotted his cousin immediately. The place was still empty enough that it was easy enough to pick out the younger man in the lack-of-crowd.

"Good morning," he said, taking a seat across from Shadow. "What did you get up to last night?"
