Maybe Guy would have had more of a problem with Claude's offer if the younger man had been insisting on it. Instead, he was just expressing the desire to come along, which was easier for Guy to accept. It probably wouldn't take too long to get there (his legs still worked fine, after all), so he wouldn't be infringing on whatever plans Claude had.
On top of that, he did need to keep his promise and tell his friend about his phobia, so they might be able to get that taken care of as they made the trip over.
