Day 21: Lunch
Hikaru and Kaoru had been so caught up in their little game that they initially hadn't heard the intercom go off. The new "ding" system was far less jarring than the old SCREECH, and as such, wasn't as easily heard, even in a place as quiet as the library. All too soon, the nurses came to separate the twins and take them to the next activity--lunch.
It only felt like a few minutes since breakfast, somehow, and yet Hikaru was starved. The lunch selection was ridiculously Americanized food of the "Pan Asian" genre, as bad as when his family had wanted Japanese food in California and had gone to the "nicest" restaurant in the English language guidebook. He cringed visibly when the surly cafeteria worker poured sauce on his rice--which was supposed to be plain--but...food was food, and he wasn't feeling terribly picky right now. At least it smelled all right.
One of the good things about being the first one into the cafeteria was having his pick of the tables. Hikaru chose one of the larger ones, saving seats for Kaoru, Tamaki, and (in a fit of hopefulness) Haruhi.
He hoped they'd come soon. He hated being alone.

Very interesting.
After that he went to get his food and find his brother. He stopped for a moment when he saw his brother had company, but ignored the jealous twinge. Smiling, he sat beside his brother.
"And who's this? The Phantom of the Opera?"
no subject
He blinked when someone who looked a lot like Hikaru sat down besides him. It was a little strange at first, like seeing a copy, but Ginji realized they were just twins and smiled again. "The what of the who?" he asked, confused by the question.

Hikaru leaned against his brother, glad that Kaoru hadn't pulled a Tamaki and left him all alone. The older of the two (by ten minutes) smirked and said, "Sans mask, of course. Ginji from Shinjuku, this is my brother, Kaoru. Kaoru, Ginji is a...what did you say you were again?" he asked, feigning interest.

He looked to his brother and lowered his voice. "Apprently our Robin Hood isn't just a legend come to life. He's an animal turned human." Kaoru's expression wasn't one of surprise or worry. It was one of 'as if we didn't already know he was nuts'. "You wanna tell Tamaki, or should I?"

He wasn't really focused on the blond boy with them...what Kaoru was telling them was taking too much of his attention. The Host's face lit up like a little kid at Christmas who had just caught a glimpse of what lay under the tree and couldn't wait to open the presents. Aside from being confronted by a genuinely angry Tamaki on the bulletin and actually having to apologize (augh), today was shaping up to be...amazing.
"We'll tell him together, of course," he said smugly. "It's our duty to!"

And...where was Haruhi, anyway?
Kaoru looked at the 'Getbacker'.
"What's that? Like a backpacker?"
no subject
"No, no," he said, frowning. "It's a recovery service. If someone lost something important or they had it stolen, we get it back for them. We help people." He smiled. "What do you two do?" he asked, looking from one twin to the other with a curious expression.
no subject
Well, it made sense. People constantly lost things, and unlike those the twins' class, commoners didn't usually have the money to replace the more expensive items. "Sounds admirable," Hikaru said, shrugging.
When asked the inevitable return question, he smirked. "We...help people, too. We're Hosts."
He'd leave it up to Kaoru to explain what exactly that entailed.
