As Lia turned into the hall connecting the branches of the women's cell block, she looked carefully down along the halls. She'd learned the night prior that the beasts present seemed capable of masking themselves from psychic detection, and so the only warning she'd have of their presence would be through her physical senses. It made her uneasy. It was dark, even with the hand-light, and the shadows pooled and lingered oddly. There were too many places to hide.

On her second pass, she spotted Melissa, and headed for the other woman. She kept her pace just slow enough to avoid sacrificing quiet for speed. "It sounds as though we'll have extra obstacles tonight, if that bastard doctor's taunts are to be trusted," she murmured as she came to a stop just a little more than an arm's length away. "Finding a weapon is sounding better and better..."
