Day 34: Lunch

Yuffie bounced all the way through collecting her lunch, all the way to a good seat- one with a nice view of the whole cafeteria, which was something she'd been missing out on during the past day or so that she'd been stuck in the Institute- and hell, she even bounced into her seat.

A good mood? No, really?

Despite the occasional blip, talking to Sagara had been awesome. He was a fun guy; he wasn't a prude, didn't have a stick shoved so far up his ass it was poking out his eyeballs, and he'd actually had a conversation with her. One that hadn't revolved around doom, gloom or how much life sucked. If she could find other people like that and keep in touch with Sagara, maybe there was a little hope for this place.

After a quick gulp of pink lemonade, Yuffie settled to munching through her food and keeping an eye on the door.

[Waiting for Dean, I think? :x]

Normally if Mitsukuni pouted, Mori had one of two reactions. A) He felt terrible for making Mitsukuni unhappy or B) he felt terrible because he had to make Mitsukuni unhappy. This time, he felt only relief at seeing his cousin again. Two days without him had been hard enough, although...he'd gotten along "okay." It was just good to see him again.

Shaking his head, Mori sat down next to his friend and felt a great weight lift from his shoulders. Tamaki and the twins would be happy to hear about Mitsukuni's reappearance, so he'd have to tell them soon. Tonight though... If Mitsukuni had been here before he surely knew what was going on, right? "You know what's happening here?"

Usually it was fairly easy for Honey to understand his cousin. There wasn't always a lot of communication between them, but that was often because it just wasn't necessary. Takashi was a man of few words, but sometimes a few words was all it took. This time though, Honey was at a loss.

He knew they were in some kind of hospital(that didn't serve cake). He knew the nurse had woken him up in the middle of his nap and kept calling him the wrong name. And he knew Takashi had been worried. All of it was enough to make him suspicious and wary, but he still didn't know the answer to the most important question: What on Earth was going on?

Honey confusion was apparent enough, but he still shook his head slowly. "The nurse woke me up just a little while ago and walked me here." His brown eyes were a little more alert and he scanned the room. Hika-chan and Kao-chan were busy hosting, and it looked like Tama-chan was entertaining someone too, but that didn't make sense either! "If this is a joke, it's not very funny. And it's not a very good theme for the Host Club either. I don't think the customers will like it." There were two members missing though. "Where's Kyo-chan? And Haru-chan?"

He lowered his voice just a touch to a loud whisper, "this isn't one of those commoner things is it?" If it was some kind of surprise for Haruhi, it was in really poor taste.

Mori didn't fully understand what was going on himself. How they had been kidnapped here and why no one had been sent for them were still mysteries to him. With five of them missing now (Tamaki and the Hitachiins missing even longer), it was just inconceivable that no one would come to get them. Kyouya would be losing far too much on the Host Club for him to just stand by and let this happen, not to mention that they were, in a way, all friends.

Mori waited until Mitsukuni had finished his questions and then shook his head. Unfortunately, nothing his cousin had suggested had been the right answer. This wasn't a joke and it wasn't the Host Club. Kyouya and Haruhi weren't at the Institute anymore either. And it certainly wasn't a commoner thing in the way he was thinking. Well, it was a commoner hospital, but not in the way Mitsukuni was thinking.

And now Mori had to explain as best he could, which was going to be interesting. He wasn't exactly the best at choosing his words, after all. "Landel's Institute - it has nothing to do with home at all. At night, we're all in danger from some people here and from supernatural...things. Every night I've gone to M35 to help with Tamaki's new club; the St. Francis Aide Society." Explaining was hard and Mori paused to take a breath. He normally never talked this much at all, but telling Mitsukuni everything was important. "They're lying to us, saying we're not who we are. No way out found yet."

Again he paused. He had to tell Mitsukuni about Tamaki, but he didn't fully understand the situation either. All he knew was that someone had hurt him in a way that he didn't want to talk about. The Host Club Leader seemed better today, but that was still in the background. "Mitsukuni. Something happened to Tamaki - don't know the details. He's alright now though."

Even if he was one of the strongest fighters in Japan, he could still get scared sometimes too. When he saw Takashi shake his head, he held Usa-chan tighter. It didn't surprise him, simply confirmed what he had already been thinking, but it was cause for concern.

Since he knew Takashi rarely spoke as much as he was right now, Honey made sure to listen carefully. He had no reason to doubt that what his cousin was telling him was the truth, no matter how far fetched it might seem. Takashi might do a lot of things to protect him, but lying wasn't one of them. Especially not when it was something as important as this.

Honey had experience in training soldiers for situations like these, he knew how to do a great number of things, but this was far outside his realm of expertise. All he could really do would be to give it his best try. If not for himself (and to regain access to cake) then for his friends that were stuck too. Just how late had he slept anyway? He'd been up kind of late talking to Hika-chan last night and now it was lunch, but what Takashi was saying didn't make sense.

"Every night?" he repeated, rubbing his tiny forehead. "But I talked to you just yesterday Takashi. Why didn't you say anything then?" He picked up another strawberry and took a bite, savoring the sweet taste while he could. More importantly, how were they going to get everyone out of here? He was sure he could sneak past the nurses and reach a phone, especially if the twins distracted them and...

Those thoughts were put on hold, however, when his cousin brought up the next bit of information. Something had happened to Tama-chan? It was too vague for his liking, but the way Takashi said it, things had to be serious. He cast a look over at the king of the Host Club before looking back to Takashi. It wouldn't do any good to ask for more details, not now at least. Maybe he could talk to the twins a little later, or Tama-chan himself might be best. As it was, he could only nod that he understood. If someone was responsible... well, it wouldn't be pretty. Honey could be sweet, charming, and lovable as could be, but if someone did something to upset him or hurt one of his friends, there would be hell to pay.

Mori hated having to tell his cousin things that scared him. It was his job to make sure that nothing could hurt the other teen, and to take the blame when things did. Scaring Mitsukuni about not brushing his teeth, or eating too many sweets before bed - that was different. They both knew he was only doing it for Mitsukuni's good. This, though, was something else entirely. It was for his benefit, but there was nothing good about it.

Again Mori shook his head. "Been here two days. Hikaru, Kaoru and Tamaki have been here longer." He wished he could explain how that worked, but he didn't know. He hoped Mitsukuni would understand that he was just as confused about it all. How could he be at home if he'd been here? Mitsukuni had no reason to lie about seeing him either.

Nothing really made any sense, but one thing was certain - he was glad to have his cousin back. In a way, it was terrible that he was stuck here, too, but at the same time, it meant Mori didn't need to worry about him back home. Here, he could be certain to keep Mitsukuni safe, regardless of the dangers now surrounding them. "I'm in M61. You?"
