Day 34: Lunch

Yuffie bounced all the way through collecting her lunch, all the way to a good seat- one with a nice view of the whole cafeteria, which was something she'd been missing out on during the past day or so that she'd been stuck in the Institute- and hell, she even bounced into her seat.

A good mood? No, really?

Despite the occasional blip, talking to Sagara had been awesome. He was a fun guy; he wasn't a prude, didn't have a stick shoved so far up his ass it was poking out his eyeballs, and he'd actually had a conversation with her. One that hadn't revolved around doom, gloom or how much life sucked. If she could find other people like that and keep in touch with Sagara, maybe there was a little hope for this place.

After a quick gulp of pink lemonade, Yuffie settled to munching through her food and keeping an eye on the door.

[Waiting for Dean, I think? :x]

Rude gave a little 'hurumph' of laughter. "How's about we make an airship?" he suggested, still quite tickled by Highwind's first reaction to the words 'radio waves'.

He was more than happy to send the Delivery Boy and Thief out doing the hard work and exercise, but there was a part of him that knew if it was the Turks doing it, they sure as hell wouldn't be coming back if they found a way out.

Rude rubbed his temples. The place was way too white. Even the SHin Ra building wasn't this bad. "Made some progress with Mustang. What sort of deals does he make?" Nobody helped strangers for free.

"Hey, someone gets me an airship or a chopper, I might have to owe them a real favour."

Yeah, a chopper would be nice. But that was a total fucking dream, frankly.

He shrugged. "No deals. You grab the supplies, he makes it. And you owe him one. Dunno if he ever really collects or not."

[identity profile] silent-shades.livejournal.com 2008-08-07 01:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Rude wasn't going to ask what a 'real' favour was. He just wasn't.

Now, call him suspicious, but owing someone an unknown favour wasn't high on his list of things to go about without care. He wanted to know what sort of thing was going to be expected. or at least Mustang's build and the company he kept. If he was a pushover then there was nothing to worry about.

"Need to check out the chemical storage too." Good chance he could make a decent bomb without Mustang, but he was pretty sure some little firework wasn't enough for this place.

Planting his elbow on the table, Reno rested his chin in the palm of his hand and stifled a yawn.

"It's on the way to the storage closets and whatever. Same floor." He shrugged. "We can hit both in one night if we're quick."

[identity profile] silent-shades.livejournal.com 2008-08-07 03:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Rude gave Reno the 'am I boring you?' look. To anybody who'd only know Rude a short while, the expression made only the smallest change to his usual one. And it was often interpreted as the sort of look one gives the person they'd quite like to see disappear and are capable of making it so. But there was no actual threat in it. A little irritation maybe. But it wasn't Rude's fault he had to be the boring one. Maybe if Reno took a little responsibility.... No, no, Rude would still be boring. Even his mother had said so.

"Then we'll be quick. Elena in good shape?"

[identity profile] offduty.livejournal.com 2008-08-07 03:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Reno was always bored unless he was insulting someone or something along those lines, so this was really just his natural state of being. Which he let Rude know with another cock of the eyebrow.

"So far," he replied. "We'll see how she plays when the sun goes down."

[identity profile] silent-shades.livejournal.com 2008-08-07 04:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Rude held his look. He wasn't going to back down to the little punk when it came to facial expressions.

They had to keep an eye out on Elena. She was tough, sure, but...they were tougher and Rude wasn't looking for another Damsel in distress situation. Which is perfectly well what she was the last he'd heard of her. "She say what was going down before she got here?" Despite what Reno said about the current situation being more important, it didn't hurt to be prepared for when they got home.

[identity profile] offduty.livejournal.com 2008-08-07 04:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Reno rolled his eyes and flicked a broken corner of a chip at his partner.

"Didn't get a chance," he said. "But what's going down at home for her's not necessarily what went down for us."

[identity profile] silent-shades.livejournal.com 2008-08-07 04:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Rude continued to watch Reno as he quietly crushed the chip under his fist.

"Oughta find out who's the furthest along," he said. But if different things were happening, did that mean it was a different version of home? Maybe he needed to ask a question, something only Reno would know. That was he'd know if it was just a regular time shift. But then, how the hell could that be if Reno had disappeared before Rude and yet he'd been there all along until Rude had woken up here?
"Where'd you come from?"

[identity profile] offduty.livejournal.com 2008-08-09 12:32 am (UTC)(link)
Reno tilted his head, thinking. "Yuffie is, far as I know," he replied.

Though he wasn't sure about the rest of AVALANCHE. It hadn't been too important before.

"Me? Chopper. Right after the shots were fired. You weren't there."

[identity profile] silent-shades.livejournal.com 2008-08-09 02:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Rude grabbed his journal and and marked Reno's name a third way down the page, along with the words 'chopper'.

"Checking out the Northern Crater?" he asked, without looking up. Reno was in choppers a lot. And being shot at even more.

A few lines under Reno's name, he was writing his own. Reno could work on getting them out of here, Rude was going to start thinking about how to get home. Hopefully the two things could somehow come hand in hand.
