The monk didn't know how long he could stick around and not get sent to solitary at this point.
Sanzo's jaw tightened, and he pinned Homura with a nasty glare.
"This isn't over," he said. "I don't care if you've lost your memory. This doesn't change a thing."
A promise and a threat, rolled into one. Sanzo had a round or two with Homura's name all over it.
And Kenren.....
There was a small, cold pit in his stomach, one he didn't ever expect to feel. It took a moment to identify it, but when Sanzo did, he wasn't happy to find that it was betrayal. Pure and simple. Somehow, in this short of a time, he'd just started to accept having Kenren's dumb ass around.....
And Kenren had turned around and done this.
He honestly shouldn't even be surprised. Sanzo, of all people, knew better than to actually trust anyone. This shouldn't have been any different.
The monk treated that fledgling emotion with the same ruthlessness he'd shown Kougaiji's assassins. The beginning sense of betrayal was stomped down, to nothing, leaving only the same anger, impatience, and the drive to get the sutra back. There wasn't room for anything else.

"So you're willing to overlook the obvious. A voluntary blind man." There was only disgust in Sanzo's voice. "You know, the thing that surprises me the most is that you'd sell yourself off like this."

"...But then again, maybe it doesn't surprise me that much."
He vanished into the crowded cafeteria, leaving them with only his untouched tray and the toppled chair.
