Taking a breath to calm herself (even if it didn't really work), she said, "I'm not asking you to believe in me. But this isn't where you come from, and things might be different. Magic is hard to explain--spells work just because they work. I can tell you about elemental magic, since there's a little bit of crossover with science there, but not much."
She considered; if she could she compare it to anything, that might work. "Do you know how a TV works, besides that it has a power source? Most people don't, but they know it does work."
