Beatrix's lips turned up slightly as the shard of glass connected and sliced into the boy's forehead, then immediately the small smile disappeared.

There was no blood. There was... no blood.

The cracks that spread across her target's face from the point the glass had cut into him reminded her momentarily of the way a computer monitor looked after someone's head got slammed into it. She didn't take much time to contemplate the similarities as she started toward the boy for a follow-up strike as he roared at her and charged.

Then he disappeared, moving faster than she could easily track, then reappeared behind her. The crackling sound of electricity was the only thing that gave away his presence to the Bride. Thankfully she was already moving forward.

Unaware of the boy's exact position behind her, the Bride threw herself into a forward dive, her unarmed hand hitting the floor to give her enough leverage to kick back at her opponent with one leg. As she kicked, her body nearly inverted, she could at least see the boy and his weapons as the blades sliced at her. Whether he couldn't adjust quick enough or the forward dive itself had thrown the attack vector off, the blades cut her shallowly across the side of her leg as she kicked back.

The familiar sting of metal cutting flesh didn't bother her. What bothered her was the jolting shock of the electricity transfered from the blade to her leg. It felt white hot and the scent of burning flesh touched the air. The muscles of that leg jerked and quivered, taking any force or accuracy out of her retaliatory kick, causing her to miss.

This was an unacceptable outcome.

Beatrix moved to tuck her legs in, hissing in pain, to turn the dive into a forward roll that would hopefully take her out of the enemy's immediate range.
