At the very moment of the transition from day to night, Amelia felt the hair on the back of her neck stand up. While the atmosphere of the place had made her feel a bit uneasy during the day, once night fell, the presence of evil made itself clearly known to the princess' senses. Yes, this was her Justice Sense telling her that all around her were wrongs in need of righting, victims in need of saving, and evil in need of smiting!
And that man on the intercom gave her the creeps. She didn't know who the "man on the radio" was, but here was a man confessing to killing another man in cold blood, without any hint of remorse! Was this the Head Doctor? Whoever he was, he was clearly a wicked human being - if he was a human.
When the intercom fell silent, Amelia realized that whatever light was illuminating her room until now had just disappeared. How very appropriate it was for beings who walked the path of darkness to dwell in literal darkness as well!
As more of a reflex than anything, Amelia immediately began casting a light spell. "Lighting!" The ball of light which formed in her hand was not as strong as she would have liked, but it was more than enough to let her see what was around her. Did this mean the magic seal placed on her was already beginning to weaken? It would have been delightful news if Amelia didn't already know that even a weakened seal could still take months, even years to fully undo.
It would still be some time before Zelgadis arrived to meet her, so she decided to explore her room a bit until then. With the ball of light hovering over her shoulder, Amelia began poking around in her closet and dresser drawers, just to see what was there.
