Hitsugaya blinked at Angel's response, a little surprised at this admission. So Angel was a 'vampire' as well. Great. Another bloodsucker to worry about when it came down to it. He was about to say something more when he heard a scuffle break out nearby.
Fights were common during breakfast. Pent up aggression at failed plans and being trapped here seemed to make breakfast the most volatile of the shifts. This, however, was no ordinary scuffle.
This was a riot.
Hitsugaya's eyes widened as he saw patients rising to protect some girl in the center, as more nurses began to rush in and other patients rose up to the challenge. While a group uprising wasn't the worst of ideas, this was unorganized, without function or tactics. They'd cause some damage, but it would be nothing compared to the damage the nurses would do to them.
"Damnit!" he said, tensing at the sight of the nurses and orderlies rushing in to stop the fight. He scanned the room for Momo immediately, and saw with some relief that she was sitting on a table, watching the fight. A few of his soldiers were joining the fray, driven by bloodlust or stupidity, he couldn't tell. Gin and Matsumoto were pilfering through the pockets of any fallen nurses. Good. At least something might come out of this. He'd have to talk to Matsumoto about that later. Artemis was with some girl, keeping out of trouble for once.
All in all, some people were being pulled out by the nurses, but there weren't any innocents he could see getting in the way of the scuffle. Everyone who wasn't engaging in the riot was being smart and getting out of the way. As for the idiots who charged in, well, they deserved what they got. Even Kuchiki-san...
"Don't get involved," Hitsugaya warned Angel, sliding his chair out from the table in case the massive scuffle got to close to them...or in case someone got in the way who didn't deserve to do so. "All these idiots are going to do is get themselves sedated. It seems like everyone else is being smart and getting out of the way..."
Still, he remained watchful of the scene, just in case.
