Raiden didn't seem to mind that Axel had started picking at his food. He listened to the other's kind words, but it wasn't very easy for him to believe them. He didn't like how he always felt like he had to distrust what everyone told him, especially since Axel was only trying to help. It was circumstances that had made him so wary, though.
Having someone believe in him was comforting, though he ended up staring at the other man when he announced that he was on his side. It was only after a decent amount of time had passed that he lowered his gaze. "I'm sorry, it's just..." He paused and sighed. "I'm not used to people being so trusting so soon after meeting me."
It wasn't like he planned to take advantage of Axel's offer, of course. As things were, he needed all the help he could get. Even if they barely knew each other, Raiden realized that he was going to have to go out on a limb this time and accept this friendship.
"Guess it was meant to be, right?" he joked, but it was obvious his heart wasn't in it. "Considering our... voices, and all."
