When Keman woke, he was very stiff, very sore, and very groggy. He couldn't remember how he had gotten back to his bed, but that was getting to be a pretty common occurrence. A little more unsettling was that he couldn't really remember what had come before that. It was all one big blur. He remembered being on the bus, then the nurses changed, and then...

Well, he remembered faces, voices, and pain. Fai must've carried him out of the bus, because then Valyn was there...and then he was in a room, and Shana was lying on a bed, and there was a human boy standing over her, and then...

Well, then he was waking up again in his own bed, with his chest swathed in bandages and a nurse standing over him with a few crackers ("Just to coat the stomach, dear"), a cup of water, a small white capsule, and an orderly near at hand in case her charge decided he didn't want to take his medicine.

He walked into the Sun Room a few minutes later, after he'd given the 'Vicodin' a chance to start working. It looked like Shana and Shadow were already talking to the woman yesterday, so he just gave them a cheery wave and sat down next to a familiar-looking boy.

"Is this seat taken?" he asked brightly, despite his rather pale face. "You're...you're the person from last night, right? The one who was taking care of my sister?"
