"But Valyn's right, you know." The dragon gave her a quick hug around the shoulders. "You look beautiful, Shana. And you two!" He gestured to Mero and Valyn with a rather amused smile. "I'm not entirely sure what to make of what you're wearing. That doesn't look very warm, Shadow."
As for how they were splitting up...
"I thought it was going to be me and Shana, and you and Valyn." Keman shrugged. "But do we want to split up now, or later?"
