Day 28: Bus 2
Momo tugged on the collar of the light blue sweater she was wearing as she followed her nurse to wherever these buses were, winding her hair up into its customary bun as she went. It was an odd feeling, knowing she was about to go outside of the institute's borders. Maybe the Head Doctor was about to make an error and the shinigami, as well as everyone else, would no longer be limited and they could finish what they started several nights back.
That was probably too much to hope for. She was feeling better this morning, even with the blood moon, and was mildly looking forward to the bus ride. Captain Jack said he was going to be here this morning and even if it wasn't customary breakfast in the cafeteria, she's be satisfied with him sitting next to her on the bus.
The nurse handed her a muffin, some napkins, and a small box with a straw. She stared at this box for a moment before shaking it. From the sound it contained liquid. How odd... Momo wasn't sure why they would but liquid inside a small paper box - it didn't make any sense to her and she wasn't sure how one was supposed to get it out of the box.
Clambering onto an empty bus, Momo chose to sit in the very back near the emergency exit. Maybe she could force her way out of it as they were moving and escape the limiter enough to come back and level the institute, freeing everyone. Or maybe she just wanted to be able to see everyone that was on the same bus as her. Wishful thinking versus reality.

Once again, Bella awoke in a sweat. Even though she knew Edward was here – or was he? Was it a dream? No, she told herself as she walked through the halls of the mental asylum, he was here – the nightmares still were relentless.
Bah, at least she had her pipe.
The teenager sat on the bus in silence, her head resting against the back of the seat. Eyes shutting, Bella took in a deep sigh and released it soon afterwards.
Her hands brushed silently over her now clothed legs in a curious manner; it felt odd to be wearing jeans again. The sweatshirt she had tossed on was a little too big, but still comfortable. She was quite sure she looked like shit – but hey, what did she care anymore?

Worse than being tackled from behind by an overreacting Bella (which was not terribly unwanted, in comparison) and waking up with no memory of how he got back to the room (or how he was able to sleep in the first place, though at least he still had the bag of supplies) was the fact that his nurse was all too happy to give him a very pitiful human breakfast and lead him out into the sunlight.
The only saving grace was the woman had provided him a hooded sweatshirt, along with a more comfortable outfit of jeans and a t-shirt. Arguing turned out to be a waste of breath. The situation was dissatisfactory on both ends, and no amount of worrying was going to help.
In defeat, Edward followed the nurse obediently, hood practically plastered over his head while keeping his hands in the pockets of the sweatshirt. At least the weather suited the actions; an autumn coolness, with a strong breeze. He picked a bus from random, hurrying in to find a seat somewhere near the back.
Once he saw Bella, Edward carefully plopped down next to her, trying to smile as well as he could, amidst the circumstances. "Good morning," Edward said, slinking down in the seat, keeping his hands situated firmly in his pockets.
Today was going to be very uncomfortable.

In an attempt to make her fiancé less miserable than he blatantly was, Bella pressed herself up against the window as so she could block out any possible sunlight. Now turned to face him, she kept her hands in her lap as she looked once around the bus and it’s inhabitants – hey, wasn’t that Topher Grace? He was also so cute and–
Bella quickly turned her attention back to Edward before she could get carried away. Not like she would ever think anyone was more attractive than Edward was. Such a thought was crazy.
Smiling the best she could with her back pressed up against the glass, Bella lifted her hand and brushed her long hair behind her shoulders. Damn, she wished she had a hair tie. “So, how’re you today? Other than the obvious.”

"No nightmares about overly-large cockroaches, I hope?" The idea made him smile even wider. Seeing a woman ripped apart and being almost ripped apart herself did little to bother her, but god forbid giant insects.
Then he remembered these events had happened because of him, and the smile faded quickly. Another sigh, and he moved to lean his head back in the shade Bella had made for him, staring dully at the equally dull ceiling. "Planning on going anywhere today? Assuming there is anything of interest." He turned an inqusitive eye to her, eyebrow raised.

Turning her gaze away for a moment, her eyes fell upon Edward’s face just in time to see his smile falter. This action once again caused her own to fall, and was quickly replaced with a frown. Something was always bothering him.
“Oh, uh …” Bella was jostled from her thoughts at his question, and she looked down after she realized she had once again been staring at him. Shrugging her shoulders, her hand lifted to once again run through her hair. “I don’t know. I had nothing planned, really. I mean, I have no idea what’s even in this town, so …”
After a pause, Bella lifted her eyes back to Edward’s face, and she grinned playfully. “But don’t worry. I won’t be walking down any dark alleyways again. Cross my heart.”

After the last night he remembered from before he'd arrived in Landel's, the vampire couldn't help but crave a few more nights alone with his fiancé - an event that rarely happened, and one he very much enjoyed. Best try as much as he could to repeat the event.
His gaze didn't shift from Bella's face as the bus lurched forward, a scenery of browning grass and reddening leaves passing by in a blur. A change of background was very welcomed; Edward was already tired of the monochromatic building after one simple day.

Bella felt her heart suddenly begin to beat at a rapid pace in her chest at the mention of being alone with him – perhaps it was because it only felt like yesterday when the two of them had been in the meadow; she could still feel the grass pressed against her back, and could see the way his eyes had shone like black fire.
All at once her face became bright red, and she lowered her eyes, trying to get her heartbeat steady. Damn him for still having such an effect on her!
Oh well. It was times like this she was glad he couldn’t read her mind.
“That’s fine. I-it’s not like we’d go off in separate directions in some random town neither of us know about,” a pause, and Bella finally looked at Edward, a smile crossing her lips. “Are you sure you won’t mind me dragging you around?”
no subject
"Of course not." Was it enough to worry over that a small part of him was still waiting for the running and screaming? Even after so long? "I'm just making sure I'm not kidnapping you against your will."
His smile showed the whites of his teeth as he smoothly jumped out of the seat once the bus had shoved itself into a hard stop. Hood securely latched down, hands balled in his pockets, he gave Bella a nod in place of holding a hand out for her. "Let's get going, Bella."
