Guy Cecil

It had been a long, tiring trip back.

Honestly, Guy still felt apprehensive about the fact that they had decided to give up the relative freedom that they'd found in Farwell to come right back into the institute, but this device that the rebels had trusted them with was important. If the only way to stop Landel was by taking him down from the inside, then that's what they would do.

That didn't make Guy feel any better as he stepped off of the train tracks and onto the dirt ground that eventually led out of the tunnels and into the underground lake. He'd been hoping they would never have to come back here, but he'd known it would eventually be necessary, seeing how they needed to collect Luke and all of their other friends.

Having trusted Claude to hold onto the device, Guy glanced over his shoulder at him as he reached the mouth of the tunnel. At least they were all in one piece. That was what he had to keep telling himself. Of course, now that they were back in the institute, that was bound to change.

"Guess we'd better call for that ferryman."

Castiel

Kobayashi never showed. Neither did anyone else.

That more or less answered Castiel's question about what had happened to his roommate. He had to be out in this world somewhere by now, believing himself to be someone else, just as Sam and Dean were. While Kobayashi wasn't Castiel's responsibility, this was just another sign of how much control Landel still had over them.

Which he was more than happy to shove in their faces, with the way that he mocked them for their persistence and went so far as to call them cockroaches. Though in Castiel's case, he couldn't say that it was completely inaccurate. With the way that his powers had been drained, it did feel like he'd been reduced to nothing more than an insect, at times.

But that wouldn't stop him from continuing his search for the archives and for Landel himself. Once the announcement ended, Castiel finished getting dressed and took hold of his radio, flashlight, and blade.

He ducked out of the room and marched down the hall.

At this point, the walk from his room to the meeting point that he'd set up with Kratos and Lloyd had become tedious. That didn't stop Castiel from being cautious, something that was ingrained in him from years of acting as a soldier and nothing else.

He scanned the hall with his flashlight and determined it was clear before crossing it to the door that would lead him out of the block. From there, it was a quick right.

On his way down the hall, Castiel reviewed what little amount of strategy he could manage for tonight's plans. The main obstacle they'd been facing was some kind of guardian being placed in either the Sun Room or the library itself. If they could maneuver their way around any opponents and not get separated in the process, it was possible they could make real progress.

Castiel didn't know why they'd been given keys that made their search easier, as if Landel wanted them to succeed despite all of his announcements implying otherwise. It was yet another aspect of this mission that made him uncertain, but it wasn't as if he hadn't barreled into fights without all the details before.

Reaching the end of the hall, Castiel took a left.

It wasn't unusual for Castiel to make it to the meeting destination first, and so he didn't think much of it. Deciding to make the best of his time spent waiting, he moved toward the opening into the Sun Room and peered inside, even using his flashlight to illuminate at least part of the area.

But there was nothing out of the ordinary, which didn't answer much of anything, seeing how it always appeared that way whether there was a guard waiting in the wings or not.

Tempting as it was to step inside and scope out the situation, that could put them in the exact same position as they'd ended up in last night. And so Castiel shifted away from the open doors and leaned himself against the wall, casting a glance back down the hall. They shouldn't be much longer...

[For Kratos and Lloyd.]

Another evening with no sign of his roommate, another plate of food that wouldn't be touched. Lloyd hadn't seen Claude during the day either. It didn't make sense. If he was gone, why were the nurses still bringing his food? If he was still here, then where was it? Lloyd kept eying the plate, but it didn't give him any answers.

Damn it...

Letting out a breath, he focused on finishing the last of his preparations for the night. Flashlight, sword, tool belt, a roll of gauze bandaging and a bottle of pills that Tsurugi had identified as painkillers tucked inside the pouch, and finally, possibly most importantly, the key he'd gotten the other night. There were other things he could take, but he didn't want to take too much. He'd need to be able to move fast tonight.

He did hesitate, though, before donning his customary clothes. Almost everything he normally wore had bites of metal attached. Buttons on his jacket, rivets on his pants, buckles on his boots, even parts of his suspenders. All of that would have to come off before he could pass through that gate trap tonight. It wasn't just a matter of dignity that made him hesitate, of having to strip in front of Kratos and Castiel. No, the problem was that taking all his clothes off and putting them back on would take time. Time when it felt like they never had enough.

Reluctantly, almost pained, Lloyd put his jacket back in his closet. Still, he drew the line at wearing the Institute's clothes. He was beginning to hate the color gray and that stupid smiley face. That left him with only one option. With a different kind of reluctance, he pulled out the white T-shirt he'd stolen from "his" possessions box the night he'd gone out with Tsurugi. The large red number one stared up at him from the fabric. He bit his lip.

Would it really be okay to wear the clothes the Institute had given his fake identity?

Better than the gray one, he finally decided, lifting his chin stubbornly. Besides, it doesn't matter what I wear. I'm still me. Clinging to that thought, he pulled the shirt on. He didn't have an alternative for his pants, though. He'd just have to wear the gray sweats. There was nothing equivalent for his boots or gloves, but those would be easy enough to take on and take off.

As ready as he could be, Lloyd took off.

Kratos Aurion

It was the usual from Landel, and by now, Kratos had trained himself to tune out whatever the doctor was saying. Instead, he focused on getting dressed for the night. He would have to forego his Cruxis uniform since last night had proven that removing and then replacing the intricate mess of belts that made up the uniform's outer harness was too much of a hassle for him to do it night after night. His other set of clothes from home wasn't acceptable either: although less belts were involved, there was still a significant amount of metal involved. Thankfully, he had other options, like the uniform left over from the military occupation, for one. There was still a belt to deal with, but it was just the one; the rest could be kept on.

The difficulty was always in the gloves, since one of his hands had an extraneous fixture, but eventually, Kratos was able to get them situated. As he flexed his hand to check mobility, he thought about his Crystal. For the past two nights, it had acted up without warning...it certainly made him wonder if perhaps he would be dealing with something similar again tonight. Unfortunately, it wasn't something he could control.

With a sigh, he put the thought out of his head and refocused on the task at hand. It was time to go meet Castiel and Lloyd. They had work to do.

Keeping in mind out little time they had, Lloyd didn't waste any of it passing through this hall. Footsteps brisk, he kept walking as he swept the area with his flashlight. No one else seemed to be in this hall yet, or maybe they'd already come and gone, but for now it seemed that Lloyd was alone. That suited him just fine.

Reaching the end of the hall, he moved on.

As he rounded the corner, Lloyd frowned as he considered their plans for tonight. Both Kratos and Castiel had agreed that they should keep focusing on finding the archives. If the archives were the key to getting back to their worlds, then finding them was important. Even so, part of him still itched to find and confront Landel. The man shouldn't be getting away with what he did to people here.

Maybe we'll run into him first. The thought mollified him somewhat. After all, it wasn't like they knew where their final goal was. One was just as likely as the other.

He passed through the door and into the next hall.

Even as Castiel took a few bold steps into the Sun Room, he didn't sense anything out of the ordinary. He hesitated for only a second or two, waiting for someone to inevitably show themselves, but when that didn't happen he nodded to himself and veered to the right, moving at a quick pace.

While he wasn't resorting to outright running, he was making a beeline for the library door. If Kratos and Lloyd knew what was good for them, they'd be fast on his heels.
