Day 27: Breakfast
Day came too soon.
Sora hadn't been able to find Rena, had instead been forced to crumple onto the grass of the recreational field and bleed all over himself, and hadn't even accomplished what he'd been sent out to do. What he'd been entrusted to do. He didn't know how he was going to be able to face Renji and the others, but he also knew he wasn't going to hide from them, either. That would just be low, after all, and he was ready to face up to the consequences.
He didn't try to make excuses for himself. Even though there had been a Special Counseling patient, they had managed to take her down by sheer numbers. The fact that he hadn't seen any sign of Rena was what had him the most worried. He hoped he could find her today.
The boy laid in his bed for a good while that morning before his nurse finally came in to collect him. She clucked over the bandages wrapped tightly around his chest and leg, and asked him if he was okay to walk.
Once Sora assured her he was fine (he didn't really want to use crutches, as that would just attract attention to himself, and he didn't need others worrying over him), they made their way to the cafeteria. Sora yawned and winced against the bright light of morning - it seemed even earlier than usual, and he realized why when they entered the cafeteria and found it empty.
The boy shuffled over to grab a chocolate chip pancake, a bowl of cereal, and a glass of milk (good for the bones, or so his mom had always told him) before settling at a table. He kept an eye on the door, hoping he would see Rena walking in soon.

The thought of groveling victims did, for a moment, make her wonder how Lord Tamaki's hair would look with bloodstains, but he was quickly moving the conversation onwards. She could think about blond and bloody later.
Where was she from? Well technically... oh, but saying so was probably not a good idea. Lord Tamaki seemed to jump at the oddest things, so best try to be as human as possible in responses. The Earl centered everything in Edo, but Rhode knew she wouldn't be able to pass for Japanese by any stretch. "I'm from England. That's why I asked how you were a Lord. My big brother's one too." Only when he was in Noah form though. Tyki's human side was far less than presentable. As for the rest of the Noah... probably less presentable than Tyki's hobo side even! To her at least. "And there's the Earl too!"
She licked at some more syrup, trying to pretend that it was sweeter than it really was. This was really depressing. Half the sweetness without the insanity that was usually breakfast made for a pitifully dull morning. The company was interesting at least.

"I thought you were British! Well, with a name like Camelot! Your family lines must go back so far! I'm delighted to meet you, truly! Are you Lady Camelot, then?" He'd have to tell the twins! It was nice to have a bit of familiarity here. Even if Lady Camelot was odd and British, she was charming and interesting and nobility!
Not that that truly mattered. Not anymore, at least. But it was still so nice!

"Mmm, my family goes waaaaay back!" she answered with a sly grin. Not just the Noah, but Rhode herself! She was just after seven-thousand years after all. And not one bit of this was a lie either! "I get called 'Mistress' a lot, but Lady's probably the formal title." She kicked her feet under her chair. Hm, she'd never really thought about her title before. The Earl kinda just gave it to her and Tyki because they were the first and second of the Noah children.

They may as well have been too women gossiping over tea, the way Tamaki was going on.

She wondered if she could get used to "Lady" opposed to "Mistress". As long as it wasn't Relo shouting for her to behave and not be a bad girl, she probably wouldn't mind it. Actually, she found it amusing that this human - that background was clearly human - would willingly want to address someone he'd just met with such formality. She wouldn't complain though.
"The Earl's in Japan a lot. That's where he works from. I stay in England for school, but that gets reeeeally boring." Now that she was going with the conversation, she was finding it quite easy to say what would be "normal" for human standards without having to lie about herself at all. This was starting to resemble a game, and an enjoyable one at that! "I go to see him a lot."

"I attend school in Japan. A very good school, I might add. Ouran Private Academy, perhaps you've heard of it? It's quite famous."
no subject
She began to wonder if she should panic or something. Ah, maybe not. Allen Walker was here. And the Junior Bookman as well. Allen was the only real threat they had had to the download being halted or something equally catastrophic. Even with her here, that left the remaining Noah to handle the other weak exorcists. There shouldn't be a problem.
"I've never heard of it. Is it really famous?" She only attended one private school in England, and she didn't much care for it. If his Ouran school was anywhere near Edo, it was in cinders now.
no subject
Was she from the past? Oh! Oh! This was just wonderful! "What year are you from? I mean, where you come from? What year?"
no subject
"Yes." Still, she was a bit flustered by his barrage of questions. "Y-year? Um... eighteen-ninety-"
no subject
"The 1800s! Oh that's amazing! I'm from 2006!" He didn't even seem surprised to hear about the time difference. He kept company with Robin Hood, after all! And even if she wasn't from very, very far in the past, it was still fascinating!
"You must tell me all about it! What's it like?"
no subject
2006? As in... over a hundred years past the time she lived? That... that couldn't be!
It wasn't the fact that they were both here, talking to each other, though they both came from different time periods. He could have come from the moon for all she cared! It was the simple fact that he came after the time she was from. A human still alive well after the Noah and the Earl should have eradicated all the unworthy from the planet.
Had they failed? Because she wasn't there to help them with the download, had they failed to defeat the exorcists? No... NO! They couldn't have lost again!! There was no way!! The cold feelings of doubt from last night were creeping back into her, the effects of the ghost woman's emotions still present. If they had lost... it had been her fault... because she hadn't been there...
no subject
Oh, maybe she didn't know about the times. "Lots of different people are from lots of different times. And worlds!" he was quick to explain. "Why, I'm friends with Robin Hood! And someone who knows aliens! I know it's hard to accept at first, but it's really very neat! I can tell you all about my world and time...."
no subject
"Um... you're sure?" she had to ask. This is a mental institution! She needed to remind herself of that before panicking over things she heard. Lord Tamaki could be just as insane as one of the twins if he was here! Calm down. Nothing to get upset over.
no subject
He didn't think, anyway. Though maybe if they came from a place where this sort of thing was normal, they would. Like Sora! It was possible.
"I know it's a lot to take in, but it really is the truth!"
no subject
The cold feeling receded a bit. "Are you... I mean... from my future?" she asked shakily. Though she had not been paying much attention earlier, she was fairly sure he had made mention of different times and worlds. If he meant dimensions, then things would be fine. She understood the various dimensions easily. The Noah of "Dreams" would be a sad sight if she did not.
