The light in the room behind the figure was brighter than in the hallway, forcing him mostly into silhouette. Still, his teeth caught enough of the light behind her that she could see them plainly, as well as the strangeness of his eyes.
Whatever her inner reaction, however, she didn't back down, nor flinch. After all, beyond the unexpected nature of his visage, he didn't seem to threaten more than her sense of politesse--so far.
"Greed," she answered steadily, nodding her head with due respect before she stepped inside on the colonel's indirect invitation. She watched him as he prepared, and thought it better to interrupt him before he began, though she directed the question to them both. "Do you also feel the heaviness in the air?"
She disliked having to state the insubstantial, but if it would impact them in any way tonight, she needed to know, and she couldn't let her pride keep her ignorant.
