It didn't immediately register to Gluttony that he wasn't in his room as he woke. It was dark out, which was okay. Gluttony liked the dark. He liked the way it distorted everything and the way it helped him hide. It was nice to scare people in the dark so they screamed more when he ate them. It was good when people screamed. Quiet people didn't taste as good. It was no fun if they didn't fight back. It just wasn't as tasty.

The fact that there was another bed meant this wasn't his room. He only had one room. No one else wanted to sleep with Gluttony, except for Lust. Lust wasn't here, though. Lust had gone away, and no one would tell him where she had gone. Maybe Lust snuck him away while he was sleeping? Maybe Lust was waiting outside for him. Lust was great and good and wonderful, she knew what was best. She could have taken him away from mean ol' Envy who didn't like Gluttony like Lust did. Envy wasn't as smart or beautiful or talented. He liked Lust much better.

Where was Lust?

He got up out of bed and walked to the door and opened it. "Lust?" he called out into the darkness. No answer. Where was his Lust? "Where's my Lust?" he called out again. Still no answer. With a pout, he took a step out into the darkened hallway. Maybe it was too dark here. There were no windows and no lights. He couldn't see anything. He didn't like the dark anymore. The dark was only good when he could see the person he wanted to eat and then he could hide in the dark and pop out and they would be scared, because they knew he was going to eat them.

He went back into his room, calling out plaintively into the darkness again. "Where's my Lust?" Still no answer. Maybe Lust left him a note on the desk? No, no note. What about in the desk? No, but there was a flashlight. A flashlight was good. It meant he could go out into the darkness and find his Lust. It meant other people could see him coming, but that was okay. He was hungry, but he wanted Lust more.

He stepped out into the shadows, turning on his light and crying out yet again, "Where's my Lust?"
