Murphy still couldn't decide which was worse: prison, Silent Hill, or here.
He was leaning towards here, though, because it seemed to strive to offer the worst of both worlds. All the mind numbing captivity and de-personalization of prison with the pants shitting horror and infuriating mystery of Silent Hill.
How had he gotten so lucky?
The ex-con had evened out to some sort of tired vague sense of confusion over the last couple of days. He just didn't know what to do. Why was he here? He couldn't wrap his mind around it. If it was punishment - which he'd stopped consider it, at least on a divine level - then it was pretty damn interactive punishment. If he was supposed to learn something...
Maybe he just had luck that bad. He'd considered that, all through his life. And as he was ushered into the library, he decided that maybe he just needed to stop thinking about it and read something mindless for a while. So he grabbed a book and settled himself in, figuring he'd just pretend he was back when life was easy. In prison.
