Day 25: Intercom, Evening

The intercom clicked on with its usual jingle, the Head Doctor's voice carrying with a bit more authoritative ease than it had earlier.

"Good evening, patients, and I'm pleased to announce that we've finally finished organizing when our new batch of patients will be introduced, and unfortunately, it'll have to be tonight while you're all in bed. Truly sad, that, as I'm sure all of you are eager to see our new faces as soon as possible!

"In any case, the dinner that will be brought to you tonight will be herb-marinated pork roast with buttery corn-on-the-cob and fluffy mashed potatoes. Of course, we have our usual vegetarian salad available to those who request it, along with our regular assortment of drinks."

He paused and sighed. After all, it had been a long day.

"Oh, of course--Some of you may be unhappy to hear that Dr. Crane and Dr. Jiyani will no longer be serving us here at Landel's Institute. For those of you who were scheduled to have sessions with them, we'll be providing a substitute group therapy session in upcoming days. More details on that tomorrow.

"I believe that's all for now. Enjoy your dinner!"

The intercom clicked off.

[ As always, post to this entry with separate threads for each set of roommates. Thanks! ]

Now he knew what floor one of the potential rooms was. Either Hitsugaya was telling the truth or he was lying... or the third option: the sutra – if it'd been in there, period - had been removed by either the staff or the patients before the kid encountered the room.

Sanzo was going to have to check for himself sometime tonight. See the room for himself and check around for any traces of the scripture.

It wasn't exactly in his nature to put too much trust on other people. The only witness he'd be satisfied with was himself.

Sanzo raised an eyebrow. “'Teams”? You're actually organizing the prisoners?” There was the faintest note of incredulity to that last. Hard to imagine a kid rallying the patients here, but he'd seen far stranger: still, the kid had balls. Sanzo only saw the action as potentially dangerous on several accounts, one being from the other patients themselves.

Out of everyone he'd encountered so far, there were a very select few he'd dare turn his back to. Goku was likely the only one so far that he could trust completely.

“How do you even know you can trust them not to fuck you over when the moment suits them?” he pointed out.

Hitsugaya stopped working briefly to glance grumpily at Sanzo. "Yes," he answered. "I'm organizing as many teams as possible. And no. Beyond those from where I come from, I don't trust a single one of them."

He set the pen down casually. "But if we don't organize, we'll all be stuck here. And I don't know what you've got going on wherever you come from, but I have a war I need to get back to."

He meant it, too. He didn't trust any of the new people, but he knew they were necessary. There might have been a mole in their operations, but that was always a risk they'd have to worry about. Homura, for example. Thankfully they arranged everything so that the others didn't know a lot about the full plans. "Most people don't know all of what's going on," he answered. "We keep information limited so that moles don't have a lot of information to go off of. Everyone would expect the patients to organize. It wouldn't be hard to tell that my people are organizing others."

He shrugged, then picked up the pen again and went back to work. "We work as a team, we get more done," he commented.
