Well, she would either learn to adapt, or she wouldn't. No one exactly liked having their identity repeatedly invalidated, but no one could afford to fly off the handle every time it happened, either. Besides, Barnaby certainly didn't need the nurses' validation for anything. But as someone who had deliberately revealed his identity to the public, he'd be lying if he said that seeing his hard work wiped off the map didn't add insult to injury.
There was once a time when he would have been shocked to find that Korra apparently didn't recognize him. Now it was par for the course. Of course, these days that was the least of his worries.
"A little over a week now," he answered. Too bad it felt like a year. "From what I understand, not everyone lasts even that long."
There wasn't any point in coddling the girl by trying to make the situation seem less dangerous than it was. Barnaby had no reason to spare her feelings, especially since he was only talking to her in order to get the nurses off of his back. In a place like this, though, he was probably doing her a favor by speaking so candidly.
