Hakkai had done his best to spend the day largely unconcious and doing his best not to remember what had led to the bandages on his stomach and arm, or why it hurt to breathe. Sometimes forgetting was easier - forget what he'd done, what he was. But the intercom woke him up as night started, and this time he was lucid enough to remember. And to worry about what was going to happen now - if the change was going to come again. If it did... The combination of fear and anxiety made him feel like he was going to vomit, though thankfully he didn't.
But the fear told him one thing, and that was that he had to get out of here. Get away from people, hide somewhere he couldn't hurt anyone if he transformed. He stumbled out of bed, almost too fast - he felt a wave of dizziness, and nearly tripped. It was only a few steps to the door, though, and by the time he reached them, his vision had cleared.
He nearly made it to door to the next hall before he felt the pain in his stomach again. He stumbled at the first wave, and the second brought him to the ground, sending a fresh jolt of pain through his ribs. He curled up, paralyzed by pain and the realization that he was changing again and there was nothing he could do to stop it.
And then it was over, and the eyes that opened again were no longer human. He used the wall as support to pull himself up, but already some of the pain was receding - this form was stronger, better than the weak shell of humanity that chained it down. Now - it was time to find a target for the icy bloodlust starting to run through his veins.
