That didn't sound too reassuring either. If it led to nothing, if there really wasn't an underlying reason, why bother to give them things like that in the first place? Was this Landel's idea of a game, a way to throw them off balance? It'd be just his thing too, wouldn't it, finding a way to make even gifts seem sinister.

Still, Tsubaki was right. The new things would come in handy. There probably wasn't any point in worrying too much about it anyway. "Yeah, I guess it really is nice to have things like this again," Leanne finally answered, folding her arms behind her back. "Nothing's gonna stop us now."

She grinned, gesturing at the dark hallway behind them, before taking a step in that direction. "Ready to go?"
