Those giant birds were as valid a threat as that shadowed doctor, and for that reason, fleeting and insubstantial as it was, Mikado took his flashlight and opened his door carefully to poke his head outside to look around. The blind spot on the right side from the bandaging was in no way less disorientating, and he was unconsciously moving in jerking motions to compensate.
Darkness. Only shadows and shades. Maybe he should just stay inside.
