The clattering of a tray caught Sora's attention, but not for very long. It was the sort of thing that usually happened at least once every time the patients gathered in here for a meal, either because someone was picking a fight or out of shock at seeing an unexpected friend. So he didn't pay it much notice, until --
Until Tsurugi sat down right in front of him.
Sora's eyes widened as he looked from the boy he'd attacked just the night before over to a mess about twenty feet away, where his tray had been dropped. He'd been that shocked to see him? Well, that wasn't much of a surprise...
He didn't know what to say, but he wasn't going to let the conversation die before it even started, either. The fact that Tsurugi was so surprised made it clear that he hadn't seen his bulletin message, which meant Sora was going to have to try and come up with those words again. Maybe it would be easier in person.
"Yeah, somehow..." He let out a breath and looked Tsurugi straight in the eye, well aware that he couldn't hide from this. "I'm so sorry, Tsurugi. You never should have gotten involved in any of that. You were just trying to help, and then I..." His chest tightened and he was forced to stare down at the table. "Are you feeling okay? Did they stitch you up?" He didn't know how bad the wounds had been, with how fast it had all happened, but he hoped they weren't too painful for Tsurugi.
