Stunned - very few men ever made any attempts to protect her, and fewer still did so physically - Lust actually stopped as his arm came up to detain her. She watched him inspect the hallway, noting the blood. He reminded her of the men from the military. The young men. Shaken but determined to maintain control and calm.
"Something horrible, I'm sure," Lust mused, ignoring the order to stay behind him entirely. The moment of shock had passed, and she had no fear of blood. Or whatever had made it. Anger and indignation had smoothed over her memories of her first night shift with Scar.
"And really, there's no need to keep treating me as though I'm some civilian."
