... Oh, brother. Kyousuke quirked a brow as Murphy spoke, one hand gripping tightly at his other arm to compensate for the fact that he couldn't cross his arms with a flashlight in his hand. There were a number of protests and counterarguments he could make, but between the combination of his headache and already thin patience, he wasn't about to bother.
"No," he said instead, plainly as he could. ... This had been happening all night, and it needed to stop. Help was one thing, but this wasn't it. It was interfering, and stupid. Murphy already seemed to have a propensity for drawing attention back onto himself from the fight earlier, and between that, and this, Kyousuke had a pretty good idea of what sorts of actions he'd take if he were in front.
"I don't know why you're so determined to to get yourself hurt, but there's a difference between helping someone and useless heroism." The complete disdain in his voice spoke of exactly which he thought it was. "There are things you do because there's no other choice. Putting yourself in front of someone else when there's another way around doesn't mean you've saved them, it makes you an idiot. Who do you think you're protecting like that?"
He snorted. .... What a joke. He was tired and sore and sick of this guy's assumptions. If there weren't only one flashlight, Kyousuke would have been long gone by now, he was sure of that. It was at least good he'd been able to learn some more, but that was about as far his gratitude went. He turned away as soon as he finished speaking, and slowly began to pull himself down the hall, not bothering to listen to anything that might be said in return. He did, however, take a small moment to glance back over his shoulder.
"... Don't get in my way."
As if he was ever going to let anyone get hurt for him.
