From Chuck's perspective, this all seemed to be coming out of nowhere, and as his brother's anger grew, he found himself feeling more and more tense. He straightened in his seat and noticed the way that the nearby staff was looking at them. But in the end, he didn't care if they made a scene. If having an outburst like this was what Lawrence needed to do to feel better, then so be it.
He stood up with Lawrence, his face twisted with concern. "My shadow? According to who? If you've made yourself believe that, it's only in your own head." While Lawrence had always been very different from him, that didn't somehow make him the better son. Maybe their parents had been able to relate to him better, but Lawrence had always been shockingly smart, had even gone to MIT. What was the problem there?
Chuck remembered how Lawrence had been bullied when they were younger, of course, but that had been years ago -- and he had always been there to back him up.
