Although seeing Kurogane on the bus was a bittersweet relief (she couldn’t tell at a distance if he was looking ill or not), she knew she only had a limited amount of time to look for Sora once people started filing off the buses. Sora was definitely sick, and with the way things had ended during the night, she wanted to find him as soon as she could. What if his sickness was getting worse like Landel had warned?
She hadn’t sat that far from the front but it still took awhile to get out the doors; she had to stifle mild irritation at the delay. If Sora was already headed into town, she might never find him!
As her head cleared the doorframe, she was momentarily blinded by a blast of early morning sunlight and had to cup her hand over her eyes. It was a nice day in comparison to some of the worse weather she’d experienced at the Institute, but it was too bad she didn’t have the time or the desire to enjoy it. Her lunch bag remained in her other hand, similarly forgotten though for different reasons. Anxiety was the ultimate appetite-killer.
For a few moments she glanced around her, looking for familiar faces. There was an advantage to being tall; she could easily see over most of the heads still milling around the buses. Hmm, no Sora there… With her free hand still over her eyes, she scanned the park.
The spiky head of hair was what eventually drew her eye.
“Ah, there he is!” Tsubaki exclaimed aloud. She started jogging in his direction. The pink fleece jacket the nurse had laid out for her bordered on an eyesore, so hopefully he would notice her. “Sora-san!” she called, waving her hand. “Hey!”
