NIGHTSHIFT 62: WEST WING, North HALL 1-A

[From here]

Loki kept his pace purposeful as he entered the hallway, retracing steps he'd taken each of the nights before with confidence. Now he was more willing to not bother pausing, trusting his keen hearing to pick up any potential problems.

He remembered the way to the medical wing precisely, and the process would be much faster without having to play dumb for the benefit of mortals.

Yet another empty hallway greeted him. Harvey frowned, realizing that he probably should have encountered at least one other patient by now. Having slept for who knows how long, there were any number of possibilities for what could have happened. An epidemic that he'd been spared from, if Landel's talk of symptoms was anything to go by. Harvey wished that he'd been more awake during that announcement, but as things stood it was all far too vague.

Still, if Landel was still making his little broadcasts, that meant there were still other patients to broadcast to. Harvey wasn't going to jump to any conclusions until he'd reached the main hall, at least.

Of course, the very fact that he'd been asleep for longer than the norm was something to be worried about. That was usually a bad sign, and he'd never slept through a whole day (or more) like that. Was this the beginning of the end? And if that was the case, where was he headed? Did he want to stop the process, or was this finally his way out?

Too many questions, not enough answers. Harvey aimed his flashlight down the abandoned hallway and kept moving.

The was Landel's doing again.

Kurogane had suspected, but hadn't had proof until the announcement that his lacking health was because of something Landel had done. Now with the man broadcasting it for all to hear, the ninja was determined not to sit down and take the Head Doctor's games. No matter how he felt, he had his goals, and he'd be damned if he'd let Landel get in his way any more.

Though it bothered him to find his cloak back in one piece and awaiting him in his closet, he still donned it before heading out for the night. He was heading for the field again, and as it had come in handy the last time, he was thankful to have it on his back as he rounded the hallway towards the field.

The hallway was abandoned, though the bandages in the previous hallway had indicated at least one person had already passed through here before him. He guessed it didn't really matter -- the person in question was probably fine.

After a small moment of hesitation, Seishin headed south. It wasn't as though he had any particular direction in mind, so tracing the familiar would do for now.

He walked quickly along the darkened corridors, rapier gripped tightly in his hand and he moved, unconsciously admittedly, as though he owned the building.

At least he could thank his lucky stars that this hallway was quiet, too. Woody would never forget that night he and Mack had stumbled onto that horrible bloodbath in their block. Come to think of it, that had been the night they'd met Jesse and barricaded themselves in Woody's room. Most folks bonded over cards, checkers -- heck, even video games. Not...that, but this place did strange things to everyone.

The fact he was human at all was enough to prove that.

Of course, he didn't want to stay like this, which meant he really need to find out more about this place.

Swallowing hard, Woody pressed closer to the wall and slowly made his way forward. He really wished he knew where Jesse was. Or Jessie, for that matter. But he would have to go at it alone for now.

Not that Sasuke was lacking in purpose, per se. His own allies had dwindled over time, vanishing or fading away into sleep and silence. Sakura herself had mentioned an increasing loss of time: how long would she last? Would she disappear like the others, or was she being kept asleep like Sasuke had been, hours and days at a time until the passage of it blurred into something indistinct, too hazy to track?

The senses Sasuke had left were still functioning, as clear as those of a shinobi trained from birth (and trained by terror in rebirth) should be. Around him there were footsteps, muted and steady enough that he could still be reasonably confident there was still time left.

At least there weren’t any monsters, as far as Anise could tell. Luke’s room was just a short walk away. The girl paused in this hallway, looking over to make sure the others were still close by.

What felt like a thousand more steps later, Sechs was helped out into the next hallway by Zero's arm. The sounds and sights of the nightmarish mirages were slowly but surely fading behind. The farther he was from the patient cells, the easier it became for him to breathe. It didn't stop the metaphorical bleeding that he was experiencing inside though, but the distance he gained from that empty room did help slow the flow.

For now, all that the battered Replica could do was lean upon Zero's support and move forward.

Sechs was struggling; the pipe helped him a little bit, but he had almost fallen over for a moment despite having it. Still, he was walking, and kept walking. That was good. Zero kept a tight grip on the fellow android and continued to lead them onwards, as Sechs didn't seem to have any intentions of stopping yet. That was alright.

However, the once-Reploid now recognized that there was one downside to them continuing forward this way. They were out of the prisoner blocks and moving toward the main hallways now. In other words, moving away from (supposed) safety and into an area where monsters were known to roam, as proven through past nighttime experiences. As they walked, Zero kept his eyes and ears open for anything in the darkness that wasn't human. The last thing they needed right now was to be attacked...

With both of them in such weakened states, who knew what would happen...
