Wow, and Souji thought he looked bad. With the cafeteria as empty as it was, he had a very clear view of Hijikata as he limped in, snapped at his nurse, and received a tray laden with every food imaginable. The view remained clear as day as the man made his weary way across the room and sat in his customary spot opposite of Okita without a word. He had bruises here and there, obviously from some sort of fight, although with what, Okita had no clue. Whatever it was, it had been strong - not strong enough to kill him thank goodness - but strong enough to leave him looking like this. Hijikata looked tired, his entire being radiating his displeasure with the situation, and Okita knew he was expecting some sort of friendly jab or another.
Expressing worry over his friend's state was what he wanted to do, but it wasn't what Hijikata needed. Even if Okita had much to speak with him about, he pushed it all aside, choosing instead to focus on Hijikata and his evening. It must have been worse if he showed up looking like this, after all. A brief moment later, Souji's shock wore off and he managed to place an uneasy smile on his face. "...I suppose the other party looks worse?" he asked, picking up a piece of fruit from his plate to transfer it to Hijikata's as a peace offering.
