There was more activity in this hallway than the previous one - way more. And not all of it was human, nor was it alive. More animal-like corpses in here, if the heavy smell of blood wasn't enough to give them away. Despite being so used to the sight and smell of death from his job, Byrne found the stench to be overwhelming. What the hell? The night had barely started, and yet he was already running across more monsters than he had seen personally in the whole week he'd been here. Which may or may not be saying much, but--but still!
Any other thoughts he had at the moment were interrupted when the sound of clicking nails rushed past his feet, prompting the prosecutor to almost literally jump three feet in the air out of surprise.
What. Was. THAT.
Despite the surprise, he didn't stop, merely glanced around his feet trying to spot whatever it was that was running nearby. Too dark to see, but he could hear it alright. Damnit, running around and making all this noise was a bad idea after all. Was it following him? Did it matter? Screw pacing himself, he was going to sprint like a freaking maniac!
