Signum's second awakening was if anything less pleasant than the first. Her mind was too well-trained for her to be surprised anew; there was only the sinking certainty that she was not awakening from a dream, but returning to a reality that should have been one.
She eyed the unfamiliar face of her roommate blankly and tried to care that she was meeting her. Something could still be done. Just because all this was impossible by the standards she had held only a few short hours ago did not mean it was without limit. Action could be taken. Allies... she'd said to make allies.
She forced herself to rise. She was a Knight, plain and simple; not just a holder of the title but the thing itself. It was her essence. Even taking her away from her master, even this this false death could not change that.
Her limbs were sluggish as she imitated her roommate, gathered the scraps the institute left to them and sat to eat her food, but at least she was moving.
