Heine stopped when the numbers began to thin out. The rooms were back the other way, though he hadn't seen any trace of Lily and he'd no idea how the rooms were organized or- or if you really saw what you think you saw?
He kept to the far wall, leaning against it for support. How long had it been since he felt this uneasy? This unstable? First the disappearing and reappearing collar, then Lily, now whatever this institution had become now that night had fallen. As promised, the doors had unlocked, people were walking around wherever they wished, and the soldiers had completely vanished. Whether the problem was rooted in this place or the insanity was his alone, he couldn't be certain.
